From Kutschers Newsletter
In issue 8/2011, Kutschers Newsletter informs about the storage and maturation potential of Austrian red wines. The article is based on tastings of various wines from different winemakers. Admiral 1999 and 2000 were two of them.
Herewith Walter Kutschers tasting notes:
Admiral 2000
Almost black in colour; full maturity can already be recognised in the bouquet, typical Zweigelt-diction with subtle flavour of saddle leather; on the palate massive fruit sweetness and sweetness due to high extracts, remarkable concentration with a lot of character and long aftertaste.
Admiral 1999
Deep, shiny ruby; lovage, plum jam and liquorice, discreet leather scent with residual fruit, later also frankincense; on the palate Bordeaux-feeling, brick and graphite, 'Goudron' and tannin, cinnamon and ripe cherries, Blaufränkisch-flavour and spices, discreet, noble elegance.
